On a two-hour walk through the old town, we go searching for clues to the city´s past in its hidden alleyways and picturesque squares. Together, we uncover the secrets of Bahnhofstrasse, find out what a “procession axis” is, and visit a church with a minute-hand that jumps a record-breaking half meter every minute.

This popular tour is filled with numerous astonishing and amusing anecdotes and has plenty to offer both visitors and locals alike.

 

2. City Tour and Felsenegg Cable Car Trip:

A city tour through Zurich, with a ferry trip across Lake Zurich and a cable car ride up to the Felsenegg vantage point.

On this varied city tour, visitors can discover Zurich´s main sights in a comfortable, air-conditioned coach, with several photo stops to capture the very best motifs. Highlights include the National Museum, the prestigious Bahnhofstrasse, the renowned Opera House, and the university quarter with the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology (ETH), Zurich University, and the Kunsthaus.

A fascinating stroll through the Old Town leads across the Münsterhof square, with its history-steeped guild houses as well as Zurich´s famous churches, St Peter´s Church, the Fraumünster and the Grossmünster. The drive along the Gold Coast ends in Meilen. Here we take the ferry across Lake Zurich, then continue on to the valley station of the Adliswil–Felsenegg cableway.

This amazing ride takes participants up to the Felsenegg vantage point at 800m/2,625ft above sea level, The popular excursion destination offers magnificent views over the city, lake, and snowcapped Alps. The subsequent return trip heads back to Sihlquai bus station.

Additional Information:

During revision of the cable car facility (24th February until 30th April 2020), the trip up to Felsenegg is replaced by a ride on the Dolderbahn cogwheel train

3. Combo Tour – City Tour and ‘Top of Zurich’

Following the city tour you will enjoy a very pleasant train ride to Uetliberg on your own – known as the ‘Top of Zurich’. At 871 meters (2613 ft) above sea level, Uetliberg towers over the roofs of Zurich. It offers magnificent views extending over the town and across the lake all the way to the Alps. From the top of the summit’s 30 m (100 ft) viewing tower, which boosts your altitude to 900 m (2700 ft) a terrific 360-degree view awaits you. Only after seeing all of this you can really say you’ve been to Zurich!
